Our commitment

Nostal is committed to providing a safe environment for all users and expressly prohibits any content, behavior, or activity that sexually exploits or abuses minors (anyone under the age of 18). We cooperate fully with law enforcement and relevant authorities to protect children on our platform.

1. Scope of this policy

This Child Safety Standards policy applies to all users of the Nostal mobile application (including the version distributed on Google Play under the developer listing for Nostal), the Nostal website at nostal.app, and any associated services operated by Nostal. It covers all content—posts, comments, direct messages, images, videos, profile information, and any other user-generated material—shared through our platform.

2. Prohibited content & behavior (CSAE)

The following content and behaviors are strictly prohibited on Nostal. These standards exist to prevent CSAE and protect children.

  • Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — any image, video, text, or other content that sexually depicts or exploits minors.

  • Online grooming — communicating with a minor to gain their trust for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse.

  • Sexual solicitation of minors — any request for sexual acts, sexual content, or sexual communication directed at a person under 18.

  • Trafficking of minors — any content that facilitates the recruitment, transportation, or exploitation of children.

  • Sexualization of minors in text or artwork — including written fiction, illustrations, or AI-generated imagery that sexualizes children.

  • Sharing, promoting, or linking to CSAE content hosted on external platforms or websites.

3. Enforcement actions

When a violation of this policy is identified, Nostal takes the following actions:

  1. 1

    Immediate Content Removal

Violating content is removed from the platform as quickly as possible, typically within 24 hours of detection or report.

  2. 2

    Account Suspension or Permanent Ban

The offending account is suspended or permanently banned from Nostal, with no eligibility for reinstatement for CSAE violations.

  3. 3

    Report to Authorities

Nostal reports confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies, including providing account information as permitted by applicable law.

  4. 4

    Evidence Preservation

Relevant data and evidence is preserved to support any law enforcement investigation.

4. How to report a violation

Users who encounter content or behavior that they believe violates this policy are encouraged to report it immediately through any of the following channels:

Report child safety violations

All reports are reviewed by our trust and safety team. Reports involving CSAM are escalated immediately.

Report directly to authorities: If you have encountered CSAM anywhere online, you can also report it to the NCMEC CyberTipline (USA) or your national reporting authority.

5. Proactive detection & safety measures

Nostal employs technical and operational measures to proactively detect and prevent CSAE on our platform, including:

  • Hash-matching technology — We use industry-standard hash-matching tools (such as PhotoDNA or equivalent) to detect known CSAM before it spreads.
  • Content moderation — Automated systems and human reviewers monitor content on the platform for policy violations, with child safety treated as the highest priority category.
  • Age-appropriate design — Nostal applies age restrictions and design standards to minimize the risk of minors being exposed to harmful content or contacted by malicious actors.
  • User reporting tools — Users can flag material for review in line with this policy.

6. Policy updates

Nostal reviews and updates this Child Safety Standards policy on a regular basis so it remains compliant with applicable laws, platform policies (including the Google Play Developer Program and Child Safety Standards), and evolving best practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

Continued use of Nostal following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Users are encouraged to check this page periodically.
